Smith family has to restart after Hurricane Ian
Donation protected
Cyndi and Stephen Smith along with their daughter Carissa lost their home and belongings in Hurricane Ian. Catastrophic flooding destroyed their house on Fort Myers Beach. They are unable to recover their losses through insurance due to their insurance company going bankrupt just prior to Ian. Unfortunately, the company taking over their policy refused to provide them with hurricane insurance. Shortly there after, the largest hurricane our area has ever seen, decimated their home as they helplessly and painstakingly waited knowing their home and belongings were being literally washed away. All they have are their vehicles and the clothes they packed during evacuation prior to the storm. Everything else is gone.
The Smith family lived in Alva for years prior to moving to FMB. They are a kind and generous family...from tirelessly working with school PTO projects & fundraisers to volunteering at the women's shelter, they have always been there to lend a hand to those in our community. They are currently staying with family members in the area and although they are grateful their friends and family are safe; they are overwhelmed by the magnitude of the loss they have suffered. Please consider a donation to help this family get back on their feet. Even the smallest amount would be appreciated as they have to rebuild without the assistance of any insurance.
