MY BIG VISION
To build a supportive and creative online/real community that gives women choices around drinking and shows people that there is a life beyond what society tells us is acceptable.
Because I can see the benefits of a sober life, I want to support and inspire other women to make informed choices about drinking and offer a different way of life.
The virtual doors to the 1st TSAC open September 2020.
TSAC is starting online with a Friday night sketchbook social; a place to meet up and talk and draw. It’s for the sober and for those that fancy having a sober Friday night while chatting with others.
TSAC will be an all-inclusive, non-judgmental sober space. I would never tell anyone what to do as I know that when I was drinking, if someone mentioned my alcohol intake, I would get defensive, coming up with excuses why my drinking wasn’t an issue because I was not ready to deal with it. TSAC is a place to inspire joy, not pass judgement.
Mid November my new subscription based membership will be launched (name to be decided)
By September 2021 - my 2nd year sober, I will open the doors to the 1st,
The Sober Artists Club in Brighton, it will be a physical space (maybe an old pub?) with a print studio and space for face to face sober socials along with workshops and events for the sober and sober-minded. I will hold talks and workshops around creativity and mindset, which are aimed to inspire and support women who want to embrace creativity rather than the society sanctioned ‘wine o’clock’.

WHY I WANT TO SUPPORT AND INSPIRE WOMEN
I know from experience that when I started to work on my mindset, I began to see that lager was not helping me at all, in fact it was slowly killing me. I was dying inside. I’m lucky I had creativity and sketchbooks, even when I was drunk I would still find time to draw.
Living without booze is hard and you need to find new ways of navigating the world.
Especially one that, like ours, is all about drinking. We socialise drinking, we say goodbye drinking, we say happy birthday drinking, we say sorry drinking, we say yay you got a new job drinking or boo you didn't get a new job, there you are baby, there you are. It's all about booze booze booze.
I know there is a life after alcohol.
We need to normalise sobriety - we need a community that works for the sober as well as it works for the drinkers.
I'm just about to finish my first sober summer in Brighton ever and hand-on-heart, it is amazing living in a big city, but it has not been easy. The pubs are open and the raucous drunken laughter that used to include my laughter resonates around the city. I live across the road from my local, I could step across the threshold and sit down for a pint but I would not change my sobriety for the world. I am truly the happiest I have ever been. I have my life back.
Getting sober in this booze-filled world has shown me that I can do anything I put my mind to. But I could not have done any of it without my creativity.
When you ask for help your life changes.
I know hand on heart I am needed in the world, I am the voice of change, its my purpose to motivate and inspire and give women choices around drinking.
Thank you so much for taking time to read this, there is a life without booze, I feel so amazing I want other women to feel this good to.
