The Spencer’s Lost Everything in a Blazing Fire

Donation protected
Hello everyone, my family and I were evacuated from our home of 17 years due to a devastating five alarm fire that started in a neighboring apartment. The fire completely incinerated half of our 6-story building, destroying everything we ever owned. We are at a complete lost, and only have the clothes on our backs that still have the stench of smoke of that night. We watched along the streets in disbelief as New York Bravest wrestled with the inferno that engulfed our entire apartment. Tears fell from my 5 year old daughter’s eyes as she asked me if they were going to save Bella. Bella is our 1 year old short hair black cat that was recently rescued from the streets of the Bronx. We adopted her into our family to give her the love that she so desperately needed. I had to fight back the tears as I begged and pleaded with the fireman to save Bella as I was completely paralyzed and powerless to do anything to save her. We visited two NYC shelters in hopes she was rescued once again but unfortunately, she has not been located nor recovered from the building. We are extremely grateful that our family is safe, but not only are we grieving our cat, we’re also grieving all of our memories we created through photos that were priceless. The American Red Cross assisted us by providing a safe place to retreat to, and a hot meal before putting us up in a motel until June 21, 2023. After which my family would have to go into the shelter. We are looking to raise money to go towards food, essential supplies, clothing, finding new housing, and furniture once we have a place to live. We were updated that the building roof is completely gone and the water damage is so severe that the building is flooded in the basement, the boiler is damaged and the gas and electricity had to be shut off for safety. With the extensive work needed to our pre war building this would take over a year if the landlord even start the work. The City of New York issued a vacate order on the building displacing over 200 tenants. Any donations and support are greatly appreciated by the Spencer family. Thank you all!
