The staff and students of Hazel Trembath

Hello, I’m a teacher, mother and resident of Port Coquitlam. This morning I learned the horror that one of our local schools was consumed by fire. Many hearts are shattered and there is uncertainty in the days ahead.

Some of the educators at this school have been in our district for decades. The resources, personal funds, memories and belongings of these teachers are irreplaceable. As a teacher myself, we spend years accumulating our resources and spending so much time and money to make our classrooms places of rich engagement and learning. It is my understanding that most insurance does not cover these items in school fires. I cannot fathom the loss this community will be experiencing and I would love to try and bring some hope.

My hopes are to share these funds with the PAC at Hazel and have it distributed amongst the staff and students as they see fit.
