Over the past 20 years, The Standard hotels have created special spaces for you, our guests, with fun and fantasy throughout. We are the places where you come together to eat, drink, stay, play, enjoy each other’s company and live life to the fullest – 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year – and where our staff make it their duty to welcome, take care of, and delight you every time.
The global hospitality community has never seen anything like what has occurred over the past week. The mandated shut downs and social distancing has forced us to close our doors, which cuts to the heart of what we love to do. Without any guests, we simply cannot continue to pay our staff. And in this moment, it is those who served our guests and local community day in and day out that are most affected by this unprecedented crisis - our employees. The closure of our hotels means that a vast majority of our staff are without a paycheck - housekeepers, front desk agents, concierges, bartenders, security guards, cooks, servers, bussers, maintenance crews - many you know, many unseen, and many in need of support.
This fund was started and seeded by the leadership team at The Standard who are now opening it to you, our extended Standard family to help reach our goal. 100% of the proceeds will be used for the benefit and support of team members who have lost their jobs due to the effect of COVID-19 and are struggling to maintain basic human needs including health care, medicine, groceries, diapers, and shelter.
Today, our hearts are with them and those workers in hotels, restaurants and bars around the world facing the same circumstances, some 266 million globally. The impact as a whole is almost unfathomable, and the impact on each individual is all too real.
