The Stay Free Project
Donation protected
Hello! We are The Sisterhood Empowerment Group from Jacksonville, Illinois. Our names are Jalen Ash, LaNise Kirk, Ariel Motley, Tia Parker, and Natalie Pethes. We all attend Illinois College and have taken a variety of courses over these past few years. In particular, our Gender and Women Studies class has been very informative and captivating. For that class, our group has decided to do a project on issues relevant to our studies of gender, race, class, and/or sexuality. We came up with a fantastic idea of donating menstruation sanitary pads to young women for the greater good. Donating the sanitary pads will be beneficial, so that they can still have an education and not let their period stand in the way. We would like to show our support by doing what’s right! We will be donating the feminine products and money we collect to, The Rahul Kotak Foundation, which will then be distributing them to girls in Kenya. Any type of donations are greatly accepted, and if you happen to live near Illinois College we will have donation boxes set up where you can drop off pads and tampons! These boxes will be located in Bruner (at the first desk you see when you walk in), Caine (the dining hall in the Center for Student Involvement), and in Baxter (by the fireside lounge). Whichever way you choose to donate is up to you, let’s help these young women to not let their periods stand in the way of maintaining an education!
