The Steamship

By now, you may know that our beloved Steamship, our house and the home of many, has burned down. An electrical fire left the Ship uninhabitable, burnt, and completely smoked through. Luckily, all of the residents as well as the cats have survived the fire, and are in good health. However, our livelihoods have been extremely compromised; many have lost the materials needed to do their jobs and art; all of us have lost our home. So we find ourselves needing urgent help.
As such, we hope that you would consider contributing to this GoFundMe to help with our rehoming, rehabilitation and the replacement of necessities, such as basic household essentials, instruments, and art supplies. Whatever you can give would be greatly appreciated, and we hope that this, combined with our fundraising events (the first of which to be announced shortly), will be sufficient to get us back on our feet. The funds will be divided largely based on need, as that is also the way house finances were managed while the Ship was very much still alive. We will be sure to be transparent about where those funds are going.
We truly have so much pride in the community that we have built! The Steamship was, a living organism, providing so much more than affordable housing for us and the artists, friends and family who we have continuously shared it with over the years. The Ship was a unique space for artists to explore their art, take divining steps in their careers, collaborate, and showcase their work. It was also the place where we brushed our teeth and ate our pastas. If you haven’t lived in The Ship, then you have surely had a chance to attend an exhibition, performance or even visit us during one of its endless events and aftermaths, and memorize the space and its many opportunely horizontal surfaces.
Thank you for taking the time to read and reminisce. Please consider donating, no matter how big or small as it will all be a huge help!
(Trying to be excited about) whatever happens next,
