The Stroup Family

Donation protected
We are very heartbroken to announce that Madeline (Maddy) Stroup has succumbed to her devastating injuries caused from this horrific accident. Maddy fought very hard and up until the very end we all had hope and continued to pray that a miracle would pull her through.

Madeline, at the young age of 16 signed up as an organ donor. So, as she did in her life, Maddy will continue to give to others, after her passing.

The overwhelming response by everyone has been a bright light in this obviously devastating time for everyone involved. We are so thankful for your kind words, and all the support offered during this time.

Funds that have been raised from the kind, generous, donations will go towards hospital costs, counseling for the family and funeral expenses.. There will also be a donation made to “Honour House” in New Westminster as they gave a home during this tragic and stressful time, a place which brought comfort for Maddy’s parents, her siblings and extended family.

Any remaining funds from all the generous donations will be forwarded to a charity that the Burnaby Firefighters Support.

There will be more information going out in the days to come.

Thank you again for all the donations, prayers and love .

“The little things in life are what you should remember! Everything is beautiful, just got to look within”

On Friday July 26, Madeline (Maddy) Stroup, the daughter of Burnaby Fire Captain Dean Stroup and Emergency Program Officer for Port Coquitlam Fire Department, Tara Stroup, was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident.

The incident has tragically taken the life of Hayden Turcotte, Maddy’s boyfriend. May he rest in peace.  Also in the vehicle was their friend, Tyrell Gait, who has been released from hospital. We ask that you keep both of these boys and their families in your thoughts and prayers.

Maddy, Hayden and Tyrell were making their way in the early afternoon to pick up another friend and head to the family cabin when they were unexpectedly struck by another vehicle.

As a result, Maddy was airlifted to Royal Columbian Hospital where she is fighting the type of fight that we all know a Stroup daughter would.

Currently, she is in an induced coma with family and friends constantly by her side. The Burnaby Fire family has started this page to assist in the day to day costs and to help plan for expenses going forward.

Please take a moment to make a donation. Our Fire Family thanks you for your continued prayers, thoughts and consideration through this difficult time.
