Help Danielle & Her Children Rebuild After Losing Everything in a Fire
It’s hard to understand why life’s most devastating events often happen to those who have given so much to others. Danielle is one of those kind, generous souls who has always supported our local Aurora community—and now she needs our help.
On October 3, 2024, Danielle and her three young children lost everything when their rental townhouse was engulfed in flames. Already struggling as a single mother—not by choice, but by circumstances beyond her control—Danielle has faced tragedy after tragedy.
Just over a year ago, on June 23, 2023, Danielle’s husband, Russell, suffered a cardiac incident while on his morning walk. He was only 41 years of age. Thanks to a passerby and quick EMS response, Russell’s life was saved, and he was rushed to Southlake Regional Health Center in critical condition, spending weeks in the ICU. However, he never fully recovered and now lives in long-term care due to severe brain damage. While the government covers Russell’s basic needs, Danielle is left to shoulder everything beyond that for her family.
There is only so much one person can endure, and Danielle has faced more in these past few years than most do in a lifetime.
Funds raised through this GoFundMe will go directly to Danielle to help with the overwhelming costs of rebuilding a life for her children. While no amount of money can replace the memories they’ve lost—especially those tied to their father—your support can provide hope, stability, and the means to navigate this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution, big or small, will make a meaningful difference for a family that truly needs our community’s help.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

UPDATE:
Thanks to your incredible generosity, the funds raised so far will help Danielle and her three children secure new rental housing and begin the long process of replacing everything they lost in the fire. This includes essential household items like furniture, appliances, kitchenware, clothing, bedding, and personal belongings, such as toys for the children, school supplies, and so much more.
Additionally, your support will help Danielle cover the ongoing costs of her husband Russell’s long-term care that is not covered by the government—an extra burden she continues to manage.
Your continued donations will make an even greater impact as they work to rebuild their lives from the ground up. Every contribution brings them one step closer to regaining a sense of normalcy.
Thank you again for your kindness and compassion.
With gratitude,
Leona
