The Superhuman Center: Getting amputees back on their feet
As a Paralympic long jumper and sprinter, endurance running is really not my thing.
But I'm taking on the 2025 London Marathon to raise money for the Superhuman Center in Ukraine
There are over 100,000 new amputees since the start of the war. The Superhuman Center is helping them get the surgery, the rehabilitation, and the prosthetic limbs they need, free of charge, so they can get back to living their lives.
Coming back from a life changing injury is hard. At 15, I lost my foot in a boating accident. I thought life would never be fun again. But with incredible support, and access to the right prosthetic technology, I discovered I could still chase my dreams.
And this is the mission of the Superhuman Center: to enures the right support and technology is available across Ukraine. It will be hard, but it's possible.
A little bit like running this marathon!
Thank you in advance for your donation! It is much appreciated.

An important note regarding donations:
All money donated will go directly to the Superhumans Center via Virgin Unite. For a variety of reasons, it was simpler to name a UK based charity for the London Marathon, especially because of Gift Aid. I appreciate Virgin Unite's support and encouragement and have included a short blurb about the charity:
Virgin Unite is the independent non-profit foundation of the Virgin Group – uniting people and entrepreneurial ideas to create opportunities for a better world.
Virgin Unite knows it can’t change the world on its own, so it brings together entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and inspirational leaders to collaborate for good – multiplying resources, inspiring others to join us, and creating impact at scale.
Our global community of partners and leaders drive change and tackle the world’s toughest challenges – working together for a world where the planet and people thrive.
Over the last two decades we have led and supported the establishment of over 20 non-profit initiatives – including The Elders, The B Team, Ocean Unite (now ORRAA), Carbon War Room (now merged with RMI), Caribbean Climate Smart Accelerator, Unite BVI and Planetary Guardians.
Since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Richard Branson, Virgin Unite and the wider Virgin Group have worked with business leaders, governments and philanthropic partners to collectively support the Ukrainian people. They remain more determined than ever to keep the world’s attention on this unjust war.
As part of this approach, Virgin Unite has had the privilege of partnering with Superhumans Center since 2023 - an all-Ukrainian medical facility providing specialised care, reconstructive surgery and modern prosthetics to Ukrainians wounded by war.
The Superhumans team is committed to long-term reintegration, and plan to open two new centres in 2025. They’re also working on a new project that will complete the circle of care: a new ‘reintegration’ center. This facility will train war-affected individuals in new professions, empowering them to rebuild not only their own lives but also their communities.
Virgin Unite is committed to supporting Ukraine and believe this is a time for solidarity and for action. We encourage you all to learn more about and to support The Superhumans Center’s life-changing work.
