The Tank Nation Fund

Tank Nation is a first-of-its-kind, peer to peer, low power, carrier style radio station at the Polunsky Unit in Livingston, Texas.

Today, The Tank produces hundreds of daily programs, religious services, classes, support groups, and informational programs.

What started as a simple idea and a minuscule .25MW carrier-style system, has become something spectacular and God-inspired. It has opened the doors for genuine, peer-to-peer conversation and community, in an easy-to-digest podcast-style format that could now reach a wider audience than ever before.

In its early stages, the radio was an opportunity to simply spread useful pandemic-related information and has evolved today to become a tool that saves lives – literally.

In the months before the pandemic began its tragic roll into all our lives, the mission to create the station was formed. With its free-world Tank Nation Administrator and coordination with Chaplaincy Volunteer Tommie Dill, the ideas for this concept were made into the beginnings of a viable reality.

Between the expertise in technology and sound engineering of our free-world administrator, and chaplaincy volunteer’s familiarity with TDCJ policy and regulation – our Resident, Station Producer and Manager, Ramy Hozaifeh ensured Tank Nation crafted and found its place with our facility Warden Daniel Dickerson.

Ramy’s careful coordination and vision have developed Tank Nation into a critical tool to foster change and inspire accountability within its resident population. The Tank has opened doors for men who have previously not been able to be part of a community in any way. Allowing them to share their stories with the expressed motive of conveying the terrible collateral damage of their decisions, share the unexpressed impact of incarceration, and it has become a weapon against the perpetual rollercoaster of lives lost.
