The Teachers of Westwood School

Let me introduce myself - I am Cristy Andres - a proud Thompsonite and long time resident of this community who was born and raised here. I know personally the power our Thompson community holds during challenging times and the amazing capacity for us all to rally and help. If you are like me and felt lost/unsure how to help following today's events, keep reading. As many of you know our community, teachers and students have experienced a devastating and heartbreaking loss today with the fire and total loss of Westwood School. This is following what is thought to be an electrical fire. We all know so many teachers who devote so much of their own funds to supply their classrooms with resources that are not provided by the government/school district. Resources that are built up over numerous years of teaching. This go-fund-me is meant to help the current teachers of Westwood start over, literally!! Insurance will eventually cover all things that are part of school property but if anyone knows a teacher there is likely thousands of dollars in every classroom that will not likely be part of the insurance claim, which were paid for by teachers and will likely have to be replaced by teachers. Teachers do this because they love and are devoted to what they do and are devoted to our children. This is our opportunity as a community to rally behind our educators who support and give so much to our children. Any and all funds raised will be divided equally among all current teachers and resource teachers of Westwood school. These funds will be dispersed with the help of Westwood school administration.
