The Teague House Fire Recovery

Donation protected
My sister and her family lost everything they own in a house fire last Sunday. They do not have house insurance and would never ask for help themselves, but I know that so many wonderful friends and family have asked how they can help them recover. Even just $5 would make a huge difference and help them immensely!

Thank you for even taking the time to read this and THANK YOU SO MUCH if you end up donating. If you aren’t able to donate please share and help spread the word!

If you want to hear the full story my sister shared the details on Facebook, you can read it below:

The stark contrast between now and then. What was and what is.
Last Sunday, Super Bowl, happy times. The day started like any other. Not really, I was woke up by Chauncey at 4:00 am asking me If I could smoke a brisket. First mistake! So grumbling and dragging my feet I prepped the meat, got the smoker rolling at a constant 225 and babied it until 10 am when the first piece of it was finished. I pulled it out, bragged about it. After letting it rest, let the boys and Abby try a piece. I wanted to boast and brag a bit more so I sliced it up and headed up to my in-laws so they could tell me what a great pit master I was. 2nd mistake. The other half of the brisket had just been checked, smoker still keeping the perfect temp, and I,beaming with pride made my way out the door while Ab and the boys finished up valentines we worked so hard on the day before. I was up at my in-laws for 10-15 min when I see our wonderful next door neighbors knocking on my door. I ran outside and said, “ I’m up here!” Then I realized the enormous black cloud of smoke coming from the backside of the house. I ran, I hurdled, I moved the fastest I have ever moved in my entire life went around back saw the smoker on fire and a propane tank right next to it , threw the propane tank off in an effort to contain . All the while my neighbor was using every fire extinguisher he had to no avail. The boys and Ab made it out safe and sound thanks to these precious souls and I cannot express my gratitude and love for them! The house quickly caught fire minutes, seconds piece by piece was burnt to the ground.

I am so proud of the humans I get to call family they have taken this and just rolled without complaint and few tears.

Hayden, I’ve said before is not a materialistic kiddo. He had love for sentimental possessions, things that were gifted to him by some of his favorite people. Cowboy Hats (tons of hats) knives, restored BB guns by his great grandpa, wild rags etc. not once has he wept about a toy, article of clothing or shoes. He amazes me because this is the only place he’s ever known and it is gone. He has been so grateful and such a trooper I couldn’t ask for any better ❤️

Carson, our critter he was only worried about “Charlene” and “Curly Sue the .22” which thankfully was rescued by my quick acting level headed husband that came in and had the fire dept. put all their efforts into getting our safe out! He’s the sweetest boy that has thoroughly enjoyed camping these past few days! I love his adventurous spirit and ability to handle all that life throws his way!

Abby, everything she held near and dear was in our house as well. Her positive spirit and attitude after everything she has been through is contagious and so uplifting.

My sweet husband, our troop leader. The one that comes in like a hero in every situation. He has brought so much joy and positivity through his humor and upbeat spirit through this. He hasn’t mentioned a single thing except for trying to find his beloved pet’s dog tag we had hanging on the mantle since Amos passed. He’s been a support, super proactive and on the ball on what steps need to happen next in order to proceed. My love for him has grown so much stronger and I am so thankful we have him leading the way!

Timber and Jack, although they are all moved out, that house was still their HOME. So many happy memories, so much joy. A few material possessions but ultimately the only thing they asked for is if we had gotten our mom out. The boys each had a small urn filled with our moms ashes that I was storing for safe keeping until they had their forever homes❤️ I am thankful for the times I had with them in that house, the memories and most importantly watching them grow into the wonderful young men we know and love today.

And lastly myself, at first it was hard to watch. Every thing I’d built, collected, saved and thought I treasured. Shoes, clothing, makeup, face wash ( I was finally becoming a routine type of person and taking care of my skin ) o was devastated. Then I had this overwhelming feeling come over me. I was free, no longer bound to any earthly possession. Grateful for anything and every little thing in my life. My life was saved, these past few months had been pretty dark for me. Creating problems that weren’t there. Panic attacks that felt like rolling power outages. Creating illnesses that weren’t there. A huge weight and burden has been lifted off my shoulders. It’s just sad that it took something like this to put my life in perspective and to be so overwhelmingly grateful for all that I have in life❤️ I could go on and on, if anyone needs a personal session on how I’m feeling feel free to reach out because it’s too long to type.

For those of you who have asked, we did Not have insurance. Our house was paid off and so now we just look at this as a clean slate. New beginnings and so many new memories to be made!

The support of our community, family, friends, neighbors has been so amazing and I cannot begin to thank each and everyone of you enough. We are eternally grateful ❤️ for those of you reaching out, we are set at this moment in time we have a place to stay, food, clothing, shoes, bedding and all the love and support we could ever ask for!

To end with a positive, our mom was found, Abby found her heirloom jewelry and Amos’s tag was recovered ❤️ Charlene and Curly Sue are safe too! I love you all and thank you for all the love, support, prayers and good vibes!

Edit* huge shout out to the fire dept. officers and first responders for all your hard work and efforts! You all are amazing! Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
