The Time to Help Steve and Conda is Now

Donation protected
I had the honor to speak to Conda Walsh today about her husband, Steve Walsh. The photo you are looking at shows you their dedication to the Union and their Union siblings. Conda is in the wheelchair; Steve is standing behind her. Steve was born in Australia, moved to Salem, married Conda, and soon became a Union member, just like his wife. As his wife describes him, he is "a supercharged union activist." She also describes him as a man who belives the very best of each person he meets.
Steve Walsh is the president of his sublocal and was a chief steward for many years. He has devoted many years to his union siblings, community, and family. In October 2021, after recovering from heart surgery, Steve faced another serious health issue that left him out of work for a significant period. Eventually, Steve was able to return to work from a leave that exhausted his PTO. Shortly after returning to work, he had a seizure and landed back in the hospital and in a coma for several days. Steve worked to recover and returned to work! Last week we found out that Steve was back in the hospital after having more seizures. The doctors have discovered a large tumor on his brain. Even with all the treatments provided, his life expectancy will be 1 - 2 years. Steve's wife, Conda, who is retired now and on a limited fixed income, is now their sole financial provider and his caretaker.
Steve and Conda have spent a good part of their lives helping improve the lives of others. At this point, it's not only our turn, but I hope you agree it is our responsibility to help improve their lives in whatever way we can. Steve will be going to chemo five days per week for six weeks; the cost of everything is going up. Let's at least try to take some of their money worries away so they can concentrate on their quality of life. I will provide updates on this amazing couple as I receive them. Please share this with your Union brothers and sisters!
