The Tongue Tie Centre for Infant Feeding CIC

I am an Independent Midwife, Tongue Tie Specialist, IBCLC, Author, Educator & Speaker.

 

I am passionate about supporting families on their infant feeding journey and recognise the impact that tongue tie's and restricted tongue function can have on the feeding relationship on a physical and psychological level.

 

With 15 years of midwifery and NHS experience under my belt, I have been practising in a private capacity for the past 6.5 years and have supported families far and wide navigate and undo the systemic issues and barriers faced due to receiving misguided and conflicting information around tongue ties and in addition (many) receiving a lack of basic lactation support.

 

The number one question I get asked by parents;

 

" Why didn't they assess my baby sooner"

 

The thing is understanding tongue ties is not part of medical or midwifery training, and there is a huge gap in the knowledge base, yet HOW the tongue functions is so important for feeding, speaking, chewing, swallowing and more!

 

So I wanted to do something about it and in January 2021, I successfully launched the Tongue Tie Academy, supporting birth keepers, lactation supporters and healthcare professionals to elevate their learning, skills and practice in understanding tongue ties in order to best support their clients and create a bigger impact for infant feeding families.

 

I fully recognise that not all families will have the means to see a private Lactation Consultant or a Tongue Tie Specialist, with a typical private consultation for tongue tie ranging between £150-£250.

 

I absolutely get it!

 

As such it has been a long-awaited mission of mine that I would create a space for all families to benefit from and access specialist tongue tie and lactation support irrespective of their financial means to pay.

 

And so, the Tongue Tie Centre for Infant Feeding CIC was established!

 

We are situated at Chiropractic by Hand in Balham and are overwhelmingly excited to share this offering, and look forward to supporting so many families in the future.

This is a student-led clinic fully supervised by myself and co-facilitators, in conjunction with the Tongue Tie Academy, where midwives, health visitors, nurses, doctors and other registered healthcare professionals have been enhancing their knowledge and understanding around tongue tie and up levelling their skills in tongue tie assessment, frenulotomy and infant feeding support.
