The Torrance Family's Fight Against Cancer

There is nothing easy about having to reach out for help. However, there are times when it is necessary, and this is one of those times. The irony is not lost on the fact that the family that is the subject of this post is usually the family that is giving to those in need. The Torrances are often involved in charity events and helping others. Rather it be collecting clothing donations through the church, cooking meals for the community warming shelter, or just being there to provide a much-needed, uplifting laugh for those that are feeling down. Words cannot make a dent in the description of what this family means, and who they are for our community. Their humble way of living, and their “true to themselves philosophy” is an example from which we may all do well to learn. Our hope is that they might receive the generosity and support they have graciously provided to others. Nickelle has been battling breast cancer for a while. This time it has come at her aggressively, and she is faced with having to fight back equally as aggressively. She has been through several surgeries already this fall and has started her chemotherapy treatment. That will be followed by radical radiation therapy and another surgery. As we all know, medical bills like this are extremely costly. The insurance is covering only a portion of this expense, and it is leaving a hefty price tag. Our hope is that we can all come together in an effort to help alleviate some of this financial stress, allowing their family to focus on Nickelle’s recovery. Funds raised will go directly toward medical bills to cover these treatments. The Torrance family is kind-hearted and hardworking, and hilarious to boot. Many of you that know them, know that they would never ask for a help like this. However, they recognize the need for help this time. Our hope is that we can step up as a community and give back to a family that lives their life sacrificially like this one.
