The Tucson Magpies go National!

Tucson Magpies Rugby Football Club has been representing the city of Tucson in the Southwest Rugby Union for over forty years now. Since then, the Magpies have developed a strong tradition of winning, as they have seen many titles and awards over these last four decades, which includes winning the Southwest Rugby Union championship way back in the spring of 2003 and coming very close to winning it again in 2022.

After coming so close to victory last year, the Magpies were hungrier than ever for the championship. This was evident for all players and fans as the Magpies began their 2023 season stronger than ever, defeating opponent after opponent, on both their home field and away.

And now, twenty years later, after much hard work, injuries, perseverance, top-class rugby, and an undefeated season, the Magpies have once again claimed the Southwest Rugby Union Championship!

That’s right, The Tucson Magpies won the championship!

The Magpies now face a new challenge: To represent, not only the city of Tucson, but the state of Arizona, in the Super Regional Championship in Las Vegas, NV, where the Magpies will compete against the best teams of the West Coast. Following this tournament, after what is sure to be another victory for the Magpies’ strong 2023 season, the Magpies will move on to represent the state of Arizona in the National Championship, which will take place in St. Charles, MO. There, the Tucson Magpies will play against the best teams in the country.

Four more games, and the Magpies will be national champions, and believe me, they want to bring the National Championship trophy back home to Tucson.

The Magpies are looking to raise $10,000 to cover expenses for a 23-man squad to travel to both Nevada and Missouri this May, and this is where you come in.
