The twins’s cousin Gammachuu

Hi You All—If you know us, you know our kids have suffered great loss of their first parents in their lives. Sammy lost first his dad and then after his mom remarried and had the twins, they lost their mom, too. Over the years, we have had the joy and privilege of spending more and more time in their home country with their remaining first relatives. So much so, that the twins have made the astounding accomplishment of relearning their first language. In our many visits back and phone calls, their adult cousin Gammachuu and his dear young family have become truly close family members for us. I took this photo just a couple of months ago when I was there visiting them after the birth of their beautiful baby. Gammachuu easily hiked all over the area with the kids and me and prepared the chicken for us to be made into the festive stew, Doro Wat.
Fast forward to last week during one of our twice weekly phone calls back, one of the twins was told by a very level headed relative that Gammachuu was desperately ill. I knew from this relative’s temperament that if they were sharing this information, the situation was very serious.
As a family, we collaborated funds and time off work, the kids serving as translators, and Gammachuu was flown across the country with the help of another relative.
It has been a horribly difficult week getting him into a hospital. Gammachuu lost consciousness and was finally taken by ambulance to the public hospital, where he was rehydrated and dismissed. He lost consciousness again and through a desperate FB plea, a connection was made to a nurse in The capital city who helped us get Gammachuu to a private hospital.
We have exhausted our funds. We need help and we do not know what the final medical bill is going to be. We have had enough to get Gammachuu to the city and to pay the fees to be admitted. Bluntly, we are trying to prevent another orphan situation. Gammachuu is a very important man: he is an incredible husband and father. Please help us help Gammachuu.
I am starting this fundraiser at $5000. More may be needed. A private hospital in the capital is very much a pay as you go situation. If the funds are not there, Gammachuu will not get the treatment. Please help. I will update you all here as tests and needs arise. The next step at this moment is a CT scan of his abdomen. Please pray and please help however you can. Thank you from all of us.
