The Vanguard Staff Relief Fund

As I’m sure you know, all bars and restaurants in Wisconsin have been forced to close due to the COVID-19 Virus. This includes my place of work, The Vanguard. These are trying times for service industry businesses and their staffs. This mandated closure has put me and 39 of my best friends in a very tough and uncertain situation financially. We all depend on serving guests of the Vanguard as our source of income, and most of us have little to no safety net in these uncertain times.

One of my favorite things about The Vanguard is the amazing culture we have cultivated both within our staff as well as our community of regulars, neighbors, friends, and family. If you have ever been to Vanguard and had a beer slid your way, watched the cooks throw a sausage the grill for you, or simply shared a laugh with us, I ask that you consider helping us during this time if you are able. It would help tremendously during these uncertain times.

All donations will be split among the Vanguard staff. I will personally be withdrawing all donations, and will be giving an envelope of cash to each and every member of our staff. We each look forward to reopening — to start slingin’ beers and flipping sausages for y’all— as soon possible. On behalf of everyone at Vanguard, I greatly appreciate any contribution.
