The Vaughan family update

This isn’t the way we wanted to inform everyone; however, it is the easiest.

In June, Sandie was experiencing some foot pain and was led to believe she had a broken toe; months passed without improvement. Sandie was eventually admitted to the hospital where it was discovered she had blood clots in her leg. The blood clots were blocking the blood flow to her foot, causing the tissue in her foot to die. On August 18th, Sandie had her foot amputated and on the 21st, her leg below the knee was amputated as well.

On November 1st, Sandie went to get a scan done and a blood clot was found in her lungs. She was admitted to the hospital for a couple of days. She was discharged with a heavy dose of blood thinners to try to break up the blood clot. That same day, Ron went to the ER for stomach pain. Ron was diagnosed with pancreatitis and within his stay at the hospital he became septic. Before Ron was released from the hospital, he was in A-Fib. After they got him out of A-fib, he was released. Ron had to follow up with a cardiologist. After a further look at his heart, we learned he was born with two out of three of his heart valves fused together and had a heart aneurysm. The valve that wasn't fused had a blockage; they performed an angioplasty to clear it.

On December 29th, Sandie was informed that she had cancer. It was eventually narrowed down to either Lung or Breast cancer. On March 2nd, Sandie passed away unexpectedly. She never got the chance to start chemo. On March 4th, Ron went in for open heart surgery. They were able to fix everything in his heart, thankfully. He is still recovering in the hospital with hopes for a discharge soon.

We felt it was time to share with the rest of our friends and family everything that has happened. Our family doesn't want to make anyone feel obligated to donate; but anything will help.

Ron is recovering but still has a long road ahead of him. As much as he would love to hear from everyone, we ask that at this time to please refrain from doing so.

Please keep an eye out for details on Sandie’s Celebration of Life. She had a lot of great friends and family; we look forward to hearing all of your great stories at that time.

Any questions please feel free to reach out to Donna, William, Debbie or Pam.

Love,

The Vaughan Family.
