Last year I revived my travel and business TV series and produced human interest stories in Sierra Leone and Liberia. Before I started production, I signed a contract with a TV station that promised to support the making of the show. That support never materialized but I was able to single-handedly produce 10 episodes of the show.
The season was not the best of what I can do. It had issues both in sound, video, and overall production quality. However, I put it out anyway because you cant be great if you don't start.
We bootstrapped our way from Makeni to Bo, Freetown to Monrovia looking for stories. I invested in producing these stories because I believe that the stories we tell about who we are and where we are from have the power to transform our society.
Africans need to believe that it is possible in Africa and by their own might. The only way they will believe is if we tell stories that show that. Every year thousands of our young men sacrifice their lives to reach Europe and the Americas because they don't believe that they can make their dreams come true on the continent. Our sisters leave to go be maids and servants in the Middle East because they don't believe it is possible at home. But It Is Possible Here.
I am raising funds to buy new production equipment so that I can go back on the road to find the stories that will inspire this and the next generation of African youth. I want to continue to show those who are building their own dreams in the midst of great difficulty but doing it nonetheless. I want to go to show far off places that show what's being done to preserve and nurture our environment. And most importantly I want to tell stories about women beating to odds and breaking glass ceilings.
I believe that within my lifetime we will build a prosperous nation and continent. If you don't believe that then I challenge you to support this fundraiser and watch the stories that will unfold.
If you can't make a contribution please help me spread the word.
Thank you so much for your love and support.
