The Victoria Rodriguez Family Fund
Donation protected
Victoria Destiny Rodriguez passed away on September 22, 2019. As you can imagine, her family and friends are devastated by the unexpected loss. They are also stuggling to rebound from the costs of funeral and buriel expenses. Although nothing can take away the pain that the family is experiencing, your generous donation can help ease their financial burden.
The impact of Victoria's life is expressed beautifully by her close friend Khalief:
Victoria Destiny Rodriguez will forever be remembered by her powerful presence, infinitely creative soul, acceptance of everyone and ability to authenticate her love towards those she cared for, and surely there were many. She accepted everybody and anybody for who they were, even if they didn’t always accept her back. People were accepted by Victoria with open arms, as she constantly created a space that encouraged people to reveal their truest selves. She always understood and didn’t just say “I get it”.
The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Victoria is laughter. She had a laugh that came with a snort so loud that it spread to everyone around her. When life felt stressful, tiresome, or gloomy, Victoria was the perfect candidate to remind you that there are plenty of ways to find happiness. It was always a celebration with Victoria- no matter what you were doing it was never just simply nothing because she was a party come to life. I will never meet someone as funny, exciting, and brave as her. Since Victoria has passed it has not been easy for those who love her. Things will not be the same without her lively presence.
To the people reading this, as you can see, this is just of small percentage of how not just Roosevelt island, but people all over New York were affected by Victoria’s death. Everyday that the candle vigil was out, people always came to pay their respects because of who Victoria is. The candlelight vigil became a place where we can all pay our respects and reflect on the legacy of strength and love that Victoria left behind.
