"The VISION: Community Statue Project"

Tax deductible
In an effort, to help memorialize our rich history, the students at Booker T. Washington High School have initiated “THE VISION” Community Statue Project. This project includes the erection of a statue of Booker T. Washington, a Community Plaza, Community Park, and a GeoDome Greenhouse. THE VISION will provide an additional source for food in the community, a safe serene place for families to visit, a safe environment to exercise, and a memorial for one of the greatest educators in African American history. Under the direction of Dr. Carlos Phillips, II, the Principal of Washington High School, a team of students and teachers have been assembled to help bring “THE VISION” Community Statue Project to fruition.

THE VISION Community Statue Project consists of innovative STEM/STEAM designs and art implementation that outline; the statue plaza, community garden, geodome, lighting for our school track, and a wind farm, that will provide alternative energy to the correlating components of the project.

This historical landmark will be the fifth statue of an African American in Houston.  The proposed sculpture encompasses true STEAM elements and has been designed by local sculptor, Bridgette Mongeon.
