BIPOC Barbie Drive For Children in Foster Care and Shelters
Donation protected
“When it comes to BIPOC children who play with Barbie dolls. BIPOC Barbies allow them to imagine beyond their wildest dreams, embrace the power of being a BIPOC child, and find comfort in defining themselves. Above all, it allowed them to escape society’s destructive narrative of BIPOC childhood.”
Upon learning because of a shortage of BIPOC Barbie donations, the Tacoma, Washington foster care system, had no choice but to give BIPOC children white Barbies. My mother, Gayla Luanne Goller (formerly North, March 25, 1937– December 11, 2024), began donating BIPOC Barbies.
Over her lifetime, she gave away more than one thousand BlPOC Barbies. Sadly, donations for BIPOC Barbie are still lacking. I plan to continue her legacy of donating BIPOC Barbies to the Tacoma, Washington foster care system in her memory.
Because the facilities have limited space, Mom scheduled donations throughout the year. Although a generous mom, she only bought Barbies when they were on sale. There were times when they filled half this room. Since my apartment is small, the Barbies will be sent to the foster care agencies as well as other agencies that serve children. Thank for your support.
