The Whitwell Education and Heritage Center

Dear community supporters,

We are embarking on a mission to create a vibrant hub that will be the heartbeat of our town – a place where history, education, and support come together. Our vision includes establishing a community center that will house Orena Humphrey’s Public Library, Whitwell- Marion County Coal Miners' Museum, Whitwell Senior Citizen Center, Whitwell Veterans Center, as well as The Children's Holocaust Museum. This ambitious project aims to create a space where knowledge, heritage, service, and companionship intersect, catering to the diverse needs of our community members across all age groups. We need everyone’s support to turn this dream into a reality for our community.

Why Support Us?

Library for All: Our public library is in desperate need of a new place to call home. The people of our community deserve a comfortable, spacious library to utilize. We know this new space will be a haven for readers and learners of all ages. By contributing, you're helping create a space where knowledge knows no bounds.

Preserving History: The Coal Miners' Museum is also in desperate need of better accommodations. This space will honor the hardworking individuals who shaped our community. Your support ensures that their stories and sacrifices are remembered for generations to come.

Celebrating Seniors: The senior citizens center aims to create a warm and welcoming environment for our older community members. Help us establish a space where they can socialize, engage in activities, and receive the support they deserve.

Supporting Veterans: Our veteran's center will offer crucial resources and a welcoming environment for those who have served. Your donation can make a significant impact on the well-being of our local heroes.

Holocaust Artifacts Library: As you may or may not be aware- Whitwell Middle School is currently home to The Children’s Holocaust Museum. This is where important and vital memorabilia is held. Your support in this endeavor would mean generations to come will continue to have access to these meaningful records.

Join us in building a community center that bridges generational gaps, celebrates our collective heritage, and provides essential services for everyone. Together, let's build a center that becomes a source of pride for our community. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to making this vision a reality.

The cost to build the Whitwell Education and Heritage Center is estimated at over $2 million. While working on grants and fundraising, we are also accepting donations.
