The Wing Employee Support

The Wing is a growing community of women across the country and globe, gathering together to work, connect, and thrive. In support of our mission, we are raising funds to provide additional financial support to our employees who have lost their jobs during this unprecedented global crisis.
Hi, I’m Penelope Luksic, a member of The Wing's People team, working behind the scenes to support employees affected by our closures. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, The Wing made the difficult decision to lay-off or furlough a majority of our staff. We are committed to providing as much support to our team as possible, including distributing contributions to this campaign. I, and others working hard to explore all avenues of support, have been touched by the response. We are so grateful for your help.
Our goal is to provide continuing support for impacted team members throughout the duration of the COVID-19 crisis and closures of Wing locations. In order to do this sustainably, all funds raised through GoFundMe will be deposited into a newly created assistance fund, designed in partnership with the Emergency Assistance Foundation, a 501c(3) public, non-profit organization that works with corporations to distribute emergency grants to employees during times of hardship or disaster.
With the funds raised by this campaign and all future contributions to The Wing Employee Relief Fund, all Wing employees will be able to apply for grants--regardless of position, tenure, or circumstance--through the Emergency Assistance Foundation's Immediate Response Program. The criteria for receiving a grant from this program are:
1) Applicant must be a current or prior employee of The Wing whose job was impacted by The Wing's reduction in force, due to COVID-19 closures
2) Applicant must be in need of basic financial support, for food, clothing, housing, or reasonable necessities.
The Wing does not require proof of need, as this global crisis and our related lay-offs meet these criteria without question. Once an employee applies for an Immediate Response grant, they are funded within 48 hours via electronic payment. The Wing's People team is working closely with the Emergency Assistance Foundation to make the process easy and accessible for our impacted employees. These grants will supplement severance and unemployment payments and will be provided tax-free to employees.
The Wing Employee Relief Fund will better our ability to provide continued financial support to team members and will operate as a long-term, sustainable source of funds through this crisis and beyond. This fund will also allow us to support Wing employees in the future who may undergo crises that impact their financial stability, including events like natural disasters, serious injury or illness, or involuntary loss of housing. The Wing Employee Relief Fund will rely on donations from The Wing and its active employees via payroll contributions, fund drives, and company matching--though anyone in the wider Wing community may donate via a one-time gift or support with on-going donations.
You can continue your support of The Wing team here. All donations to this fund are tax-deductible.
No contribution is too small and we are grateful for your help. Thank you for your generosity and kindness towards this fantastic team.
