The Yeager Family

Three months ago, Matt and Emma Yeager were a thriving young couple happily raising their beautiful three-year-old daughter Violet and anticipating the birth of their first son, Liam. All was well in the Yeager household. Today, Emma is using a wheelchair, she is unable to perform any of her normal tasks, and Matt has been off work for two months. Violet and Liam are healthy and growing, but Emma and Matt are understandably struggling with the changes in their lives.
Throughout her pregnancy, Emma experienced some curious symptoms, but neither she nor her doctors saw them as reason for serious concern. Then on October 9th, it became clear that Emma had developed HEELP syndrome, a form of preeclampsia and that induced labor would be necessary to deliver Liam four weeks before his due date. Liam was safely delivered, to the great relief and delight of all who love him. Emma, however, experienced complications during the birth which at this time are not clearly understood by her or her doctors.
As a result of those complications, Emma has sustained nerve injury which is expected to be corrected in time, though no one can be sure how long the reversal will take or even whether the damage is 100% reversible. Matt’s employers have been extremely gracious and cooperative, their insurance company less so. Approvals and payments come slowly, and some expenses—such as counseling—have been denied.
That’s where we can help out. Emma has found a trauma counselor who is willing to work with her insurance company, but she can use some help with the copays. Matt has been full-time caretaker and is doing an admirable job of handling this new role which he assumed with no notice or training, but he could use a bit of stress relief himself. He would like to get himself a gym membership. Then there are all of the little things that add up quickly: emergency food, hospital parking, prescriptions, possible leg braces, etc.
All funds collected here will go toward maintaining the physical and mental health of this young family. Any amount you can contribute will be greatly appreciated; and of course, we can all contribute our prayers for the whole Yeager family. Please let Matt, Emma, Violet, and Liam know—through your financial contribution, your prayers, or both—that you are walking with them through this valley.
Thank you.
