“Only the good die young.” Zane said to his sister, Ashley as they shared a quiet moment together during his most recent hospital stay.
Tuesday, Zane was transported and admitted to OSU where a CT scan showed Zane had air in his abdominal cavity which meant he had a bowel perforation, a hole in his bowel. We were then informed that Zane would not be a surgical candidate to fix the hole because of poor healing and bleeding risks both associated with his chemo regimen.
After hearing the few medical options available, Zane decided he wanted to come home. Zane wanted to soak up and enjoy as many memories that he could with his 6 children and beautiful wife, Alicia.
Thursday afternoon, Zane received a heroes welcome. The neighborhood streets were lined with cruisers from local sheriff and police departments, EMS and fire equipment all lit up to show support for their local hero.
Since Zane’s arrival home the outpouring of love from the community has been overwhelming. Even though the chapters of Zane’s story are being written a little differently. The message is still the same, there is “a lot to live for”. Alicia, Zane’s brave and courageous wife, still has a lot to live for - 6 children, all boys ranging from 9 years old to 4 months old.
Many have asked how they can help. We decided that monetary contributions are going to be the most beneficial to Alicia at this time. In the coming days, weeks, months even years down the road she is going to need many different things and this will helpfully ease any burdens that may come up.
We thank you so much for your love and support! We also ask that you continue to pray for these specific requests. When it is Zane’s time to go, that he goes peacefully and quickly without pain. Pray for Alicia and the boys. Pray for Zane and Alicia’s parents. Pray for their siblings. Pray for peace and comfort and for all of them to remember sometimes God answers prayers in ways we didn't expect. Some times He answers our prayers by blessing us with people surrounding us and lifting us up in comfort and in love.
On behalf of the Beathard and Steele families we thank you for everything.
