theArtists - Freelancers Funding Pot
theArtists network was founded in 2020 by professional dance artist and producer Anna Watkins. Creating a platform to profile professional dance artists from cross art forms, providing a hub to collaborate.
This network presents talented young, mid career and experienced dance artists with a wealth of creativity to share with you as a collaborator.
theArtists MISSION
To represent talented dance artists from cross art forms working within dance and wishing to collaborate. We would like to avoid 'tick boxing' our artists in terms of age, gender, ethnic origin, sexuality, religion, as we feel this is not important, their talent and professional experience is the most important at its highest quality!
Breaking through the hierarchy systems presenting all artists wishing to join theArtists platform.
Currently featured on theArtists. platform with more art forms to come soon during development stages...
Dancers, Choreographers, Movement Directors, Photographers, Musicians, Composers, Singer-songwriters, Filmmakers, Visual Artists, Lighting Designers, Dramaturges. UK and International artists.
The Arts is suffering from these difficult times and is losing so many of its talented artists with little or no support during Covid-19 and moving forwards.
Freelancers are the least supported in the financial ladder in the arts sector, and need to know there is a future for their work.
This platform was created to provide a hub database of artists where employers and organisations can seek artists ready to work and collaborate, as well as artists working together to make new work.
Raising funds to create a Funding Commissions Pot, which will be used to create opportunities for members of the platform to create new work coming out of Covid. Providing funding to pay freelance artists who have signed up to the platform, creating change and opportunities for all no matter background or location.
This platform was created by a freelance artist trying to help other artists to survive and bring change to ‘tick boxing’ people into identities that they may not wish to be boxed into.
Freelance dance artists need your support to continue making art for the world, supporting the mental health of people and making creativity accessible to all.
We will present a digital performance event of the work created through the commissions below in Spring 2021.
