The Next 150 Years for The Blyth Hotel

Donation protected
The Blyth Hotel is an iconic and valuable part of Blyth’s past and future. The majestic two-storey “classic Australian “ pub stands proudly on the corner of Harley Street and Guilford Streets in Blyth.

While the building is in remarkable condition for its age, to ensure that it stands the test of time for another 150 years there are some structural improvements required.

The Conroy family are the new passionate owners appreciating its interesting past and seeking to honour it in every improvement or upgrade they undertake.

The Conroy family will strive to provide a great experience for locals and visitors and have a clear understanding of the responsibility of taking on the business.

Unfortunately, since its hay day, the business model of “a country pub” and its viability has been on the decline making running a business more and more challenging with regulations, requirements, obligations and increased overheads.

The "Conroy family" are great thinkers and innovators and only 11 months in are strategizing some “out of the box” thinking to develop additional income streams for the Hotel Building to ensure its longevity and benefit to the community.

Turnover has increased 10 fold since taking on the business in February 2022 and raised the quality of our product and offering substantially. We have restyled the Lounge Bar creating a great atmosphere for casual dining. We are in the throes of opening up an area formerly used as a store room for “The Parlour” and have renovated one of the shop fronts on the eastern end to house a Boutique and Homewares opening in February 2023.

There are some very exciting projects, plans & visions that we hope will add great value to our welcoming community. Currently under renovation's is the majestic dining room, the kids corner has some great equipment ready to go, also plans in place for having battery storage added to the solar system to ensure that in times of crisis "The Pub" will be here to support the locals.

One of the largest expenses is the necessity to ensure the building does not fall into disrepair. On the brink of this is the verandah. A small portion of this has been restored and the balustrades lifted to code from an insurance claim in recent years.

Quotes have been obtained to undertake the remainder of the verandah to ensure that it is safe, to code and once restored will get a much-needed coat of paint giving it a well overdue facelift which will also highlight this building as a great feature in our lovely Harley Street. Work in set to commence February 2023.

Funding is being sought through grants, crowdfunding or subsidies to undertake this work along with other major structural projects to ensure the longevity of such an awesome building.

Calling on the amazing community, council or state to be able to help preserve this part of Blyth’s s history for many generations to come.
