I HATE ASKING FOR HELP, IT'S JUST NOT IN MY NATURE, BUT THIS TIME, SADLY, I NEED TO RAISE FUNDS!
As you may or may not know, I spent the last three years of my life and all of my life savings and retirement to build my dream Letterpress Shop and Store in San Francisco selling rare printed history. It's beautiful and unique and there is really nothing like it in North America.
Well, we had a major accident here in THE PRESSROOM AND MERCANTILE AT THE BOX SF on Monday afternoon May 5th, as over 100 gallons of pure, thick sewage poured into the Pressroom and Mercantile as well as our basement from our toilets due to a back-flow caused by a sewer cleaning crew outside of our building. They of course are taking zero responsibility so far, and my insurance does not cover any of this type of accident.
As damage and repairs are now approaching well over $60,000 to 70,000, I am doing my best to hold it together and remain stable and figure a way through this.
Hopefully, The Mercantile and Pressroom here at The Box SF can reopen in June, sans bathrooms, if all goes well this next few weeks. Full repairs will take a few months as both bathrooms must be gutted now and additional mold and spores work will be ongoing. You can't risk mold growing near vintage paper and printed items. I am determined to get through this and do everything right.
I would appreciate any and all support that anyone can offer as these insured types of damages are crushing me and the store is currently closed and not selling except some online sales.
Finally, I wanted to take a moment to thank all of our friends, customers and followers from around the world, for all the comments, calls, messages and well wishes! It takes a lot to knock me off course, so I have been working hard, and staying diligent to insure that not only will everything be repaired, but it will be even better than before!
I will continue to work to make this the greatest vintage Letterpress Shop, Ephemera, Graphic Design, Packaging, Poster, Rare Book and Advertising Store on Earth selling “All Things Printed!” in an 1850’s General Store Environment. Our items have already survived a century or two and I will continue to work to save them.
Thank you to everyone for tagging, sharing, reposting and following our story and this unexpected left turn!
Thank you for considering a donation to help us recover.
