Who are we ?

We are the team of  El Viaje Del Alma. El Viaje del Alma, which means “The Journey of the Soul”, has serendipitously come together during the quarantine time of COVID-19, where somehow the universe placed all the right ingredients together in an ashram just outside of Bogota, Colombia. These ingredients are a digital marketer, a financier, an activist, a yogi, a psychologist, an anthropologist, a monk and a lot of love. This new team is operating under the wings of UDSA  (University of Ancient Wisdom, an international Nonprofit Organization that works to protect and preserve ancestral knowledge, with a focus on native indegnous tribes in Latin America. While we at El Viaje del Alma, like our mother organization UDSA, try to preserve ancient knowledge we do so under the paradigm of healing and transcendence. Our mission is to guide people on their path of self realization by sharing ancient wisdom from different cultures that are still connected to their true nature. We often ask: what can we learn from other people's journeys and stories ?

What are we working on and why do we need YOUR help ? 

Project: The Maloca of Ancient Wisdom

The story we are striving to tell is one of the Bora tribe, the People of the Center.  A tribe that lives deep within the colombian Amazon near the Igaparana river, with minimal contact to the outside world. In the midst of the jungle the Bora people still live in true connection with themselves and nature. Their story is the one that we are sharing with you today.

The Boras are a tribe that experienced a tragic genocide during the rubber fever of the 1900s where they lost 95% of their population, together with their memories, legacies and wisdom, leaving only a few elders to uphold their culture and traditions. Entire Malocas were burnt to the ground. Mothers, daughters, fathers and sons turned to ashes. While the number of members since has risen again, the ripples of the genocide can still be felt. Furthermore, the same mindless greed that caused this calamity, is still running rampant in these forests today. The Amazon Rainforests, which are the lungs of our great planet, are still being cut down at alarming rates and the indigenous communities, that are currently our only guardians, are still being displaced and massacred.

A Maloca is a shelter, a space where the elders teach the new generation. A space where they pass on their legacy. A space for healing. A space where they practice their spirituality and their traditions. It is their classroom, their hospital, their living room and their temple. A Maloca is the backbone that holds their community together.


So what do we want to do for them, how can we help ?

In order to heal the open wound that was inflicted on the Bora tribe almost a 100 years ago, and in order to create a space where the harmonious philosophies of the Bora people may be preserved and taught, we want to build The Maloca of Ancient Wisdom.

The building of this Maloca will stand as a symbol of awareness, a monument of the genocide,  a symbol of resistance against industrial greed, exploitation of the Amazon and the marginalistion of amazonian cultures.

The Maloca of Ancient Wisdom, the first onsite campus of the University of Ancient Wisdom, will stand as an institution for the preservation of their great ancestral knowledge and culture, not just for future generations of Bora people, but for the world. It will be a place from which Bora knowledge can be shared and taught to everyone, so that people can learn how to heal, connect with themselves and connect with everything around them.

For the second part of the project we intend on filming a documentary of the spiritual journey of building the Maloca. This will not only bring YOU, the people that are donating, with us on this intimate journey into the depths of Amazon, but we will be able to share their unique perspective on living in the jungle and on their philosophies which we believe the world  desperately needs now more than ever.  Furthermore, what we intend to capture with this is the power and importance of the Bora word, as their spiritual practices and community cohesion is held together through the communication in their Malocas.

All the people that are working on this project are volunteers thus any money received will go directly to:

1 the building of the Maloca 
2 feeding the Bora men and women that are building it
3 buying filming equipment  to film the documentary

Quienes somos ?

Somos el equipo de El Viaje Del Alma. El Viaje del Alma se ha unido por causalidad durante el tiempo de cuarentena del COVID-19, donde de alguna manera el universo colocó todos los ingredientes correctos en un ashram en las afueras de Bogotá, Colombia. Estos ingredientes son un comercializador digital, un financiero, un activista, un yogui, un psicólogo, un antropólogo, un monje,y mucho amor. Este nuevo equipo está operando bajo las alas de UDSA (Universidad de Sabiduría Ancestral, una organización internacional sin fines de lucro que trabaja para proteger y preservar el conocimiento ancestral, con un enfoque en las tribus indígenas en América Latina. Mientras que en El Viaje del Alma, al igual que en nuestra organización madre UDSA tratamos de preservar el conocimiento ancestral, lo hacemos bajo el paradigma de la sanación y la trascendencia. Nuestra misión es guiar a las personas en su camino de autorrealización compartiendo la sabiduría ancestral de diferentes culturas que aún están conectadas con su verdadera naturaleza. Proyecto: La Maloca de la Sabiduría Ancestral

La historia que nos esforzamos por contar es una de la tribu Bora, la Gente del Centro. Una tribu que vive en las profundidades de la Amazonía colombiana cerca del río Igaparaná, con un contacto mínimo con el mundo exterior. En medio de la jungla, la gente de Bora todavía vive verdadera conexión entre ellos mismos y la naturaleza. Su historia es la que compartimos con ustedes hoy.

Los Boras son una tribu que experimentó un trágico genocidio durante la fiebre del caucho de la década de 1900, donde perdieron el 95% de su población, junto con sus recuerdos, legados y sabiduría, dejando solo unos pocos ancianos para defender su cultura y tradiciones. Malocas enteras fueron quemadas hasta los cimientos. Madres, hijas, padres e hijos reducidos a cenizas. Si bien el número de miembros desde entonces ha aumentado de nuevo, todavía se pueden sentir las ondas del genocidio. Además, la misma codicia insensata que causó esta calamidad, sigue corriendo desenfrenada en estos bosques hoy. Las selvas tropicales del Amazonas, que son los pulmones de nuestro gran planeta, todavía se están talando a un ritmo alarmante y las comunidades indígenas, que actualmente son nuestros únicos guardianes, siguen siendo desplazadas y masacradas.

Una Maloca es un refugio, un espacio donde los mayores enseñan a la nueva generación. Un espacio donde transmiten su legado. Un espacio de curación. Un espacio donde practican su espiritualidad y sus tradiciones. Es su salón de clases, su hospital, su sala de estar y su templo. Una Maloca es la columna vertebral que mantiene unida a su comunidad.

Entonces, ¿qué queremos hacer por ellos, cómo podemos ayudar?

Para sanar la herida abierta que se infligió a la tribu Bora hace casi 100 años, y para crear un espacio donde las filosofías armoniosas del pueblo Bora puedan ser preservadas y enseñadas, queremos construir La Maloca de la Sabiduría Ancestral. 

La construcción de esta Maloca se erigirá como símbolo de conciencia, monumento del genocidio, símbolo de resistencia contra la codicia industrial, la explotación de la Amazonía y la marginación de las culturas amazónicas.

La Maloca de la Sabiduría Ancestral, el primer campus de la Universidad de la Sabiduría Ancestral, se erigirá como una institución para la preservación de su gran conocimiento y cultura ancestral, no solo para las generaciones futuras de la gente de Bora, sino para el mundo. Será un lugar desde el cual el conocimiento de Bora se podrá compartir y enseñar a todos, para que las personas puedan aprender a sanar, conectarse con ellas mismas y conectarse con todo lo que les rodea.

Para la segunda parte del proyecto pretendemos filmar un documental del viaje espiritual de la construcción de la Maloca. Esto no solo los traerá a USTEDES, las personas que están donando, con nosotros en este viaje íntimo a las profundidades del Amazonas, sino que también podremos compartir su perspectiva única sobre la vida en la jungla y sus filosofías en las que creemos que el mundo desesperadamente necesita ahora más que nunca. Además, lo que pretendemos plasmar con esto es el poder y la importancia de la palabra Bora, ya que sus prácticas espirituales y la cohesión comunitaria se mantienen unidas a través de la comunicación en sus Malocas.

Todas las personas que están trabajando en este proyecto son voluntarios por lo que cualquier dinero recibido irá directamente a:

1 el proceso de construcción de la Maloca
2 alimentando a los hombres y mujeres Bora que lo están construyendo
3 comprar equipo de filmación para filmar el documental
