Three Old Men and 50 Cubs
MISSION STATEMENT.
To ride the extreme coastline of the UK on Honda 50 cubs a journey of more than 4700 miles on machines that can do a maximum speed of 37 mph.
As two of the three riders work full time and will need to use holiday to fulfil this objective the journey will be split into three legs. Leg one set off from Carlisle and travels clockwise around the mainland and some of the islands of Scotland ending at Holy Island Northumberland. Leg two is Holy Island to Exeter travelling down the eastern side of England and then along the south coast, finally leg three from Exeter to Lands End then travelling up the western coastline of England and Wales returning to Carlisle.
MISSION PURPOSE
Firstly, three motorcycle daft mates having a laugh and ripping the Mickey out of each other continually.
On leg one in 2021 we raised a great total of £6535.00 which was split between Blood Bikes Cumbria and Carlisle Infirmary’s staff welfare fund.
On leg two in 2022 we raised a further £ 2942 split equally between Blood Bikes Cumbria (BBC) and Lymphoma Action.
On leg three we will again raise money for Blood Bikes Cumbria and also Jigsaw Cumbris's Children's Hospice.
Why these causes you ask? Dee (pictured centre) has been a blood bike rider and fundraiser for BBC since 2015. Also, one of our great friend's son Jake Johnston at 24 was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, Lymphoma Action supports those suffering from this illness. Jake ran the Great North Run with a load of his friends in September 2022 raising funds for Lymphoma Action which we decided to also support on leg two. Jigsaw Cumbria's Children's Hospice provides day-to-day care, support and activities to children and young people living with a life-limiting illness and after a visit to the hospice, the boys felt this to be a worthy cause to support on the final UK leg.
The entire trip is being funded personally by the three riders and has and will continue to be without the support of a backup vehicle, all sponsorship goes directly and fully to the two stated causes in equal measure.
