Welcome to The Good Wives...

Hi there!

 

We are very excited to share the news that we've signed a lease for a restaurant space and plan to open end of summer 2022. "The Good Wives" will be a small, 50 seat farm-to-table restaurant in Ella's hometown of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. We want this space to be a reflection of ourselves but also of our community integrating local art, music and talent.

 

Our vision for The Good Wives consists of a space where patrons can come for a date night, a few small plates and a nice glass of wine or a celebration. We want people to feel comfortable, welcome and excited by our menus. Ultimately, we want to avoid trend but rely on classically tasty dishes that stand the test of time.

 

Our values of happiness, sustainability and community will be reflected in the everyday. We want to have ownership over our work by maintaining a small space where we are functioning components. We prefer to purchase used equipment, refurbish rather than buying new, and sustainably sourcing ingredients. Lastly, our value of community refers to showcasing Eau Claire's talents, artists, makers and resources in building this dream (although you might find some South Dakota representation here and there!)

 

After much planning, a pandemic, and a long wait, we've decided now is the time to pursue this dream. As you can imagine, this is a large pursuit and we can't do it without the support of our family, friends and community. Although we are acquiring a small business loan (as well as contributing our own savings and applying for grants), we need around another $20k of working capital to refurbish the space, purchase equipment, pay contractors, purchase product and cover the costs of general rent and startup.
