We are Kyle and Elizabeth Grosskopf. We just celebrated our 12-year wedding anniversary this past January. The last twelve years haven’t always been easy, but they have been some of the best years of our lives.
We didn't really think about having kids when we were first married. Just like most couples, we assumed it would happen when the time was right. But, as the years passed, it didn't happen, and we discovered we were unable to get pregnant on our own. At the five-year mark, we began pursuing fertility treatments. We both had surgery, me for endometriosis, and Kyle had a varicose seal. After a year, we still didn’t get pregnant. The next step was rounds of IUI, but that wasn’t successful. It was also extremely stressful. We were also told that IVF would be a bad idea due to my auto immune disease carrying to the embryo and possible birth defects.
We came to the decision around two years ago that we would no longer pursue treatments. That led to a lot of heart searching and prayer about what we are supposed to do. We hadn’t considered adoption until we started praying and realized that we were ready. Before that, to be honest, we were still a little bitter that we hadn’t been able to have our own child. For some couples, this kind of stress and heartbreak drives a wedge into the relationship, but we have only drawn closer and love each other more than ever. Now we look back and are grateful for the time we have had together and how strong we’ve grown in our relationship as a result of walking through this together.
The time has come to open up our home and hearts to a child who needs the security of a relationship like ours. However, the cost of adoption is quite high, as I'm sure most of you know. I’veWe've started this Go Fund Me page to help raise the money that we will need. We have decided to adopt through the foster system and will need around $7000. This will cover the adoption agency, the legal fees, the homestudies, and any additional expenses. Any money raised over this or left over if we are lucky will be donated to another childs adoption fee so it will be easier for them to find a home.
We have just begun our adoption journey. This is just the beginning and we don't even know where we are going to adopt or who, but we are open to anywhere in the world including close to home. We are also open to older children because they deserve a chance at a home of their own just as much as a baby. Anything you can give to help us achieve this dream of completing our family is received with our heartfelt thanks! Thank you for being a part of this journey with us!!!
