The City Vs. The Hills
THE LITTLE GREEN CIRCLE - THAT'S US
LUNA AND FRANKLINHello! This is Sage from the band The Hills of Malibu. We would like to start by letting you know that we are offering our new CD as a download and/or hard copy as well as other art gifts for your contributions. We wanted to give our work in return for your support! Thank you for reading our story.
After years of living off the grid, The City is forcing us off our land on very short notice due to minor code violations. The City does not approve of our frugal, environmentally friendly, low profile lifestyle in spite of the fact that we live in direct alignment with the vision and mission statement set forth by The City of Malibu itself.
This excerpt is taken from The City of Malibu website:
Vision and Mission
Vision Statement
"Malibu is a unique land and marine environment and residential community whose citizens have historically evidenced a commitment to sacrifice urban and suburban conveniences in order to protect that environment and lifestyle, and to preserve unaltered natural resources and rural characteristics. The people of Malibu are a responsible custodian of the area’s natural resources for present and future generations."
Malibu Municipal Code Section 17.02.030
Mission Statement
"Malibu is committed to ensure the physical and biological integrity of its environment through the development of land use programs and decisions, to protect the public and private health, safety and general welfare. Malibu will plan to preserve its natural and cultural resources, which include the ocean, marine life, tide pools, beaches, creeks, canyons, hills, mountains, ridges, views, wildlife and plant life, open spaces, archaeological, paleontological and historic sites, as well as other resources that contribute to Malibu’s special natural and rural setting..."
We won't let this get us down and we have a solution but we need your help. We need to obtain one safe RV to move into and completely clear our property of all material goods, the two of us and our dogs by February 21, 2015. We do not have any equity in our land or sufficient emergency funds to move. We are writers and musicians. Gary, a U.S. Army veteran, has a long history in country music that dates back to recording on Capitol Records and touring with Waylon Jennings during The Outlaw tour days. We have a long term weekly gig at the historic landmark The Old Place and are making a new record with a talented young producer, Devon Clarke Geyer and featuring our friend and brother Pedro Arevalo, bass player in Dickey Bett's band Great Southern, on slide guitar and upright bass. A working RV will give us a place to call home and transportation for work touring.

We live with the utmost respect for the environment. We have rescued several animals such as street dogs from South Central Los Angeles and feline leukemia positive cats and taken injured wildlife, including a baby deer, to local facilities. Finding Ernie the owl in the street disabled at 2am was very surprising. What a sight! He made a full recovery at the Ojai Raptor Center.
Please see our offerings below and pledge what you can. We know you will enjoy our forthcoming new recording which you will have access to download for a $10 pledge or may download and also receive a CD for a $25 pledge.
Thank you for helping us rise above!
