The Letters Project

We are young, dynamic, Caribbean authors addressing social, relational, economic, political and religious issues in a bold and transparent manner, with a tinge of humor, an embrace of Caribbean parlance and a wealth of wisdom.

We've written our letters to a wide range: to our sisters, to our brothers, to honest folk, to Massah, to the broken, to the abused woman, to the abused man, to the confused, to the hurting, to "d jabal" and "d boatwin", to the faithful and to the faithless and we need your help to send them to the recipients who so anxiously await them.

Why We Need Your Money

By the morning of February 13th, 2017, all of our manuscripts were edited and ready to be sent to a designer for our books to be laid out. We had already invested a significant portion of our own finances, we had prepared our visuals, our covers had been designed and all we were missing was to purchase our ISBNs and Barcodes. We waited, and waited, and waited, after numerous assurances, but the money never showed up. For whatever reason, the investor was unable to make his commitment. 

We initially found another investor who offered us double what the first investor was offering for the same equity. It just so happened that on the day that the bank transfer was to be made he experienced a personal setback that would render him unable to make his commitment to us.

Two investors who fell through, and about 20 proposals sent to other potential investors later, we decided to bite the bullet and do this on our own.

Here's what your purchase of The Letters Project Limited Edition

ISBNs and Barcodes: $806USD

InDesign Layout for reflowable ebooks and generally a great reader experience: $500USD

The remainder of the funds raised will be used to offset printing, packaging and shipping costs.

What You Get In Return

In exchange for your support we're giving away a Limited Edition (LE) Series of the books in the Letters Project. Each book in this Limited Edition Series will have in it the following:

- 5 more letters than the version to be released to the public

- 10 special feature pages in full color (not to be released in the version to the public). It's a surprise!

- A Donor's Hall: every person who contributes to this campaign will be placed in a donor's hall. This hall will be placed in each book for the Limited Edition Series.

When you donate towards one of our LE packs, you will get the matching ebook version to each book selected, a specially written letter by an author of your choice.

For every other package except the LE Diamond Package, choices in books will have to be made. Here are the list of books and their authors to choose from:

We're Paying It Forward

Because of the travails that we've endured in getting this project off the ground, we note a significant lack: Caribbean creative entrepreneurs, artistes and writers find it difficult to fund projects; projects which could possibly result in the preservation of culture, increase pride in our uniqueness as Caribbean people and give hope and encouragement to the people of our region. We're therefore committing - within the next year - to give back $1000USD (for every 1000 books sold) to a Caribbean creative entrepreneur, artist, or writer to help them place their talents where they belong: on the global stage.

When Am I Getting My Books?

We will mail all books 6 weeks after our campaign has been fulfilled. The General version of the books will also be available for pre-order 6 weeks after our campaign has been fulfilled. The actual release date will be slated 8 weeks post-campaign fulfillment.
