The Litterbox - New Location!

The Litterbox, as we all know, was a fun, safe space in Elizabeth, NJ where we hosted live music and art events. We hosted everything from punk shows to creative art pop-ups with the goal to build a community catering to artists. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to showcase their performance in a healthy manner. Despite the finances, every day was a challenge we looked forward to, from booking more efficiently to upgrading sound equipment and quality.

As many of you may have noticed, in summer of 2022, The Litterbox had to shut down and vacate the premise. The building where the venue was established was unsuitable for occupancy and not within the city's standards for safety regulations. After the safety hazards were brought to our landlord at the time, we had agreed to collaboratively invest in regulating the building for the city's approval. Unfortunately, after weeks of back and forth pressuring the urgency of this situation, the agreement was never met leaving us no other choice but to vacate and take this matter into our own hands.

We've been looking for a new location for about a year now, and it has definitely diminished our hopes in ever making this happen again. After being patient for so long, we are ecstatic to bring you all the good news; The Litterbox has finally found a suitable location! We have officially moved into our new establishment already and are currently undergoing renovations as we write this. Knocking down walls, painting, flooring, decor, sound equipment; all things we can do ourselves with the help of our friends and family to cut costs are in progress. Other requirements, like electrical wiring, plumbing, and safety installations will have to be done by licensed and city-approved contractors.

However, even though everything has been going smoothly, we know none of this is possible without your support. We immensely appreciate everyone who's performed, attended, and helped us in any way. That's why we need to put our pride aside and reach out to the community for support. If you've ever come to one of our shows in the past, then you know the magic that was in there and why this is so special to us. The Litterbox was built by artist, for artists. Anything at all that you can provide would help us tremendously. In the end, this place is for us all.
