Thelma is Freezing!

Thelma Spalding is freezing. “..I wear two pairs of leggings, a pair of trousers, a vest, a T-shirt and a dress - and I'm in the house. It's so cold in the kitchen and the bathroom..” Thelma says, in a news item on BBC TV’s online news page here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-59980760

Thelma’s heating bill - for just the one room which she can afford to heat! - is £44 a month, and is due to go up to £99 a month. Thelma won’t be able to pay it.

I saw the BBC’s online article about her, and - like millions of others - BBC TV’s 6 o’clock news report about her, so I sent Thelma a cheque to help cover her heating bill. When Thelma rang me to say she’d received it, she was almost in tears.. “I’m down to my last two bags of fuel..” she said, for her wood stove. Thelma can’t afford her electricity any more.

I’ve started this ‘GoFundMe’ page so that we can all contribute to give Thelma the assurance that she WILL be able to heat her home, especially when the bills rocket up in April!

Wikipedia says that “..On average it [BBC News at 6] is watched by four million viewers”. Thelma told me that mine was the only support of any kind she’d got.

Of four million who watched, only one person offered Thelma any help. That can’t be right.

Let’s set it right ..now!

Please contribute £100 ..or what you can.. to give Thelma the ability to pay her heating bill this year, to not have to spend each day in bed simply to keep warm, to be able to afford food, and to show her that she’s important to us ..after all, she’s looked after us ..she worked in the NHS.
