Help Save My Kitty
Donation protected
Merlin is no ordinary cat. He is one of the gentlest, most loving creatures I have ever known. For 11 years, he has supported and comforted me through very difficult times. Now I need to be there for him, and I hope that my friends who love him (I know there are many of you) will do the same.
He has a diaphragmatic hernia. In layperson's terms, it basically means that his liver is up near his heart (note: this is not where it belongs). Insurance will cover some of it but I am rapidly approaching the cap on coverage already, after several ER visits.
After a consultation with the CSU veterinary teaching hospital in Fort Collins, Merlin's prognosis is good for surgery and the estimated cost is $3000.00. I have lowered the goal from the previous estimate of 7K. 4K will allow us to cover followup care and unexpected complications.
We are scheduling surgery for next week. Every little bit helps.
Since this is still only an estimate of the cost, I am promising this: if it ends up being more than we need, all extra funds will be donated to the Almost Home cat rescue in Denver, a cage-free no-kill shelter that provides a safe place with medical care for all cats, even the "unadoptable" and terminally ill. You'll be helping kitties no matter what. Doesn't that feel nice?

This is Merlin with his little sister, Mamuna. She'd be devastated if we lost him.
