Theo's Surgery
This is a hard post, but Theo had some back issues going on for about a week now. We are not sure how it happened but it came out of the blue. We know Dachshunds are prone to back problems and do everything we can to prevent them (ramps, carrying him, etc). So it's a mystery of how this occurred. Last Sunday we came home Theo was freaking out and being really different. Every time Theo moved he was crying and in pain. That day we emeregencied him to Stoughton. The vet gave him some pills and kennel rest and called it good. Final straw was this Saturday morning when I let Theo out to do his business and when he came back inside he was crying and dragging his back legs behind him. We got an emergency referral to Saskatoon University Veterinary Clinic. So we left for Saskatoon and arrived around 8:30pm. Due to other more urgent cases we got bumped to about 1AM before getting seen. Theo was admitted to the clinic overnight. By the time we got back to the hotel and check in, it was about 4AM. 8AM they called and said Theo was going for Diagnostic Imaging. 10AM they called and said they found a herniated vertebrate disc between #3 and #4. Theo was in line to get surgery done today. about 2pm today we got the phone call that Theo's surgery was a success and that he is in recovery! We HOPE to go see him tonight but unsure yet. Also he MIGHT get to come home Tuesday! Also Jigsaw misses his little brother :)
Money raised will go directly to Theo's surgery bill. We have been quoted over $4000. We have not yet received the final bill.
