Justin and Aubrey have been in Boston for the past 6 weeks, receiving the best possible preparation and care for their sweet Theo.
Since Theodore passed from this life on October 15th many of you have asked what you can do to help. Thanks to the generosity of so many of you, the Riners are all set up with meals while they try to navigate this season. The most practical, tangible help at this point, is to do whatever we can to offset their housing and medical expenses for their time in Boston.
In lieu of flowers, Justin and Aubrey have requested that funds be donated to Theo’s Memorial Fund.
Theo’s life was not in vain. Tissue from his AVM will be donated to help doctors studying these circumstances. Any remaining funds will be donated to further research for babies like Theo at Boston Children’s Hospital.

“Theodore Jay Riner was born in Boston, MA at 11:40AM on October 13th, weighing 6 lbs and 14 oz. He was feisty from the start, trying constantly to get his cords and wires off. His fighting spirit allowed him to see all his great-grandparents, grandparents, uncles, and aunts before meeting Jesus on October 15th.
Theodore means God’s gift, and he is just that to us: a divine gift. The name Jay was chosen to honor Theo’s Poppy, Justin’s father DJ, and it means victory. While his short life here may not seem like a victory, we know that it is, as our sweet boy is celebrating with Jesus now, the greatest victory of all.
We are heartbroken beyond words and can’t possibly understand why this was the path chosen for our precious son, but we know our God is faithful. We cling to the truth that our hope is not in each other, or in our little Teddy, but in Jesus. For that we are thankful.”
