Hi everyone,
Initially, we were so honored that our Congressmen Raul Grijalva took the initiative to nominate us for the opportunity to represent the State of Arizona in the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington D.C. but to actually have been selected for the incredible event is a great privilege.
Our marching band is rightly named the "The Pride of Nogales" because it truly represents a group of people
from all social, economic and racial demographics within our community that have come together through hard work, commitment and determination. Their hard work has been recognized numerous times this past year alone, they received the following awards/recognition's at the Annual University of Arizona Band Day this past October we received an “Excellent”, then in Division II State Marching Competition we earned again an “Excellent”, we were also invited to participate in the Disneyland Marching Bands Parade this past May as well.
Nogales, Arizona is a small border town with a population of approximately 35,000. All of our schools are Title 1 classified. Though we are conducting other types of fundraisers (bake sales, car washes, calendars, etc.) we find that our resources are limited. We anticipate our expenses to average about $1600 per student so our projected budget is $176,000.
Our hopes are not only to expose our students to the rewards that can be experienced through hard work and commitment but that these tools can continue to be used and implemented in their ability to plan for future schooling and careers.
We really want our kids to have this opportunity, this is why we are reaching out to you, hoping to touch your hearts.
Every Dollar counts, the help that you can give us will help our group of 100+ young musicians have this great oppotunity.
Thank you so much
