Therapy dog for Addy

Donation protected
July of this year Adelynn received an official diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD). This was both a relief (what was happening finally made sence) and completely overwhelming. The thought of Addy struggling through life, facing bullying, possibly struggling with academics, not to mention the emotional toll it will take on my sweet girl. We face weekly (sometimes daily) meltdowns that can last for minutes to over an hour.
We have recently started experiencing new challenges, our beautiful, energetic, amazing Addy has come to a place where she struggles with communicating her frustrations with words, now she bolts.  She will dart right out the door, down the sidewalk as far as she can make it; with no regard of traffic, street crossing or strangers. She has tried to jump out of our van while it's moving, completely unaware of what would happen as a result. These situations are terrifying and putting her and others in danger. We have struggled with finding calming stratagies that work for her.
After a lot of research we have come to the conclusion that a therapy (possibly a service) dog would be extremely beneficial to Addy and to us. Unfortunately we live in an area that is limited to these types of resources, so the expense just keeps rising. We will have to fly out to meet the puppies to determine which one connects best with her, then the training will begin. This is a 16 wk course to prepare the dog for being a therapy dog and the first step to becoming a service dog. Because of dog allergies, we have to be even more selective of what breed we can go with. We have settled on a goldendoodle(f1b). They are very intelligent, gentle dogs and are non-shedding as well. I am hoping that as I research more I will be able to find a breeder//trainer that is closer than Alabama.
To some this may seem silly that we are setting up a gofundme for a dog. But to us.... This means we can have some peace of mind and sleep easier knowing that she is safe and hasn't kicked out her screen or darted out the back//front door. It will ease our minds to know that when we go out for a walk or bike ride that she will be kept safe and calm. We appreciate anything you can give.... Anything at all. ASD/SPD comes with ALOT of expenses, this would be one less monster amount that we have to come up with.

*I will continue to update as we move along on this journey!!
