There Was an Old Woman Who Needed a Car

I am an old woman who lives upon a mountain upon a mountain upon a mountain. I had a safe, reliable all-wheel-drive Subaru that scaled the hills with power and grace through wind, rain, and snow until one day it suffered a “catastrophic failure.” Just like that, my car’s trade-in value evaporated. Irreparable. A parts car. That was three months ago.
I’ve walked, bussed, LantaVanned, and gotten rides from exceedingly kind earth angels; all the while searching with my pre-approved $5,000 loan for a new-used safe and reliable car. After scores of possibilities and test drives; most failed my inspection, a few fell through on the seller’s end. What, I pondered, is the lesson to glean from all this time, toil, and distress?
After an early snow fall and another dismal test drive last week, the two-fold answer came. I cannot safely continue to walk, bus, and depend on others through the fast-approaching winter; and I absolutely need, not just a reliable car, but an all-wheel-drive car in order to safely scale these hills. And that means I need a lot more than $5,000. Hence, my self-interested fundraiser for the sake of my health and survival.
If you’ve read this far and are so inclined to help me get a car, any amount will be helpful and appreciated. Even the tiniest amount (I know times are hard for all of us) will speak volumes that you care – which of course is the very best gift of all! Oh and the goal of $6,900 is to cover the upgrade I need, and it’s also in honor of my upcoming 69th birthday. <3
With much gratitude,
