Indie Publish My First Sci-Fi Novel

Donation protected
Deadline: July 1, 2017

I've been writing fiction all my life, but in the last few years I've made a serious commitment to it, to the point that I've made great personal and financial sacrifices to keep writing.

I have now completed my first urban fantasy novel. It's called The Repeaters, and it's a totally original take on immortality, featuring a secret caste of individuals who live and die normally, but are reincarnated again and again, with all their memories and abilities intact.

I've decided to indie publish the novel, and just need enough funds to pay for:

- Editing & proofreading
- Cover design
- Typesetting
- ISBN number and Library of Congress designation

I hope to raise these funds by July 1st, in order to publish the book in time for the summer reading season.

I've never tried crowdfunding anything before. I don't feel that I deserve to ask help from strangers, and I can't imagine why you all would choose to assist me. All I can say that is being a writer has been a lifelong dream of mine. Now I have a completed novel sitting on my computer and I only need to clear this final hurdle to achieve my dream.

Free unsigned first edition copy to anyone who donates $50!

Free signed first edition copy to anyone who donates $75!

EXCERPT FROM THE REPEATERS:

The car door flew open and a woman stepped out. She was short and pale-skinned, and wore a white leather jacket over jeans and hiking boots. Reflective blue sunglasses hid her eyes.

Anyone else might have thought she was pretty, but her rotten aura made six-year-old Abraham Silver’s skin crawl. There was something birdlike and cruel about the way she turned her head, like a vulture eyeing a dead mouse. He knew her. He’d seen her in his nightmares.

I’m about to die, he thought. His feet were rooted into the aspalt. He wanted to run but could not. His mouth was dry, his eyes wide.

The Prius stood between them and the woman. She reached down, grasped the underside of the car and heaved, seemingly without effort. The car somersaulted in the air. Abe saw it happen as if in slow motion: the front of the car shot into the air as if transformed into a rocket. The gas nozzle pulled free, spraying pink liquid. People screamed. The car crashed to the ground, landing upside down and partly on the bed of a large white pickup truck.

“Give me the boy,” the woman said in a hiss. If a snake could speak, Abe though, this was what it would sound like.

Abe’s father stepped forward to bar the bird-woman’s way. In a shaking voice, he recited the bedtime shema: “Hear, Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One. Blessed be the Name of His glorious kingdom for ever and ever. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your - “ The bird-woman backhanded him, sending him flying across the parking lot.

Something changed inside Abe. It was as if a second Abraham Silver, some unknown inner self, took over. His fear turned to fire in his veins. Strength flowed into his legs. His eyes opened wide, seeing everything but focusing on nothing. His breathing deepened and his hands twitched. He felt like a jack-in-the-box about to spring. All he needed was for someone to pull the latch. That inner voice, that second self that he couldn’t put a name to whispered, She hurt my daddy, I’ll kill her for that.

It was a crazy thought.

WHAT EARLY READERS ARE SAYING:

“Incredibly woven story of power, intrigue, justice, love, life, and the everyday world as we know it. Little slow at first until characters become established, and then it picks up like a steamroller, drawing the reader deeper and deeper.” - Kea Grace

“Intriguing and interesting... frighteningly convincing. Any work - fictional or not - that makes me re-examine or even question my core view on reality and spirituality, earns my respect.” - Amy Estrada

“I was riveted throughout... Well done! I do love action, but not any old action will do. It's gotta be paced right, cutting between physical actions, thoughts, and emotions. I loved it! A++!” - Tirzah Duncan
