Theresa climbs Kili for Shekinah Home!
Hello Family, Friends and Colleagues,
I have been going on about climbing Kilimanjaro for a while now, but it's always been one of those things I said I'd do "one day”, and we all know how the story goes with that. Well, I decided to bite the bullet and turn "one day" into this September *big gulp! * My driving force? The beautiful children of Shekinah Home.
The Cause:
As many of you know, I had the privilege of visiting Shekinah Home orphanage in Ghana last October. It was an eye-opening experience, and I witnessed first-hand the difference the charity was making on the children’s lives by providing education, stability and love. Basic necessities they wouldn’t have otherwise. Unfortunately, there is still work to be done, and parts of the home are yet to be built. I would love to continue supporting the charity to complete this work.
The Hike:
I set off to Tanzania on 7th of September. All going well, I hope to reach the summit on the 15th. Training is going… ok so far *insert awkward smiley face*, but I plan to ramp it up now that it’s only a few months away and starting to feel VERY real. (My dear colleagues, if at any point over the next few months you see me so much as LOOK at the lift, you have full permission to call me out as my life needs to be stair-based from now on. That said, I kindly ask you to turn a blind eye when you see me go for a second helping at Tea and Cake).
I plan to document the journey and turn it into a short video for the children so they can see a bit of Tanzania and come along the climb with me. I'd be happy to share it with you too, so let me know if you’d like to see it.
I’d be really grateful if you could support my climb and donate to Shekinah Home; nothing is too big or too small.
Thank you so much in advance - and wish me luck!
A super excited Theresa :)
