In Need of Help After a Life-Altering Health Battle

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

UPDATE #2 4/1 Unfortunately things have taken a turn the worst. Theresa was admitted into the hospital two days ago for three blood clots in her lungs, and one in her leg. She was taken by ambulance late Monday evening when her daughter Qionna had to call because Theresa could not catch her breath. When the ambulance arrived, her oxygen was at 70!! It should always be at least 97 !
Doctors say she will need to remain on blood thinners at least 3-6 month and possibly indefinitely. She will also be monitored to ensure the blood clots break down and none form in her heart. The Cardiologist says her Ejection Fraction is 35!! It should be at least 60. They are going to change her medications and monitor her closely to try to get her heart function to increase.

We appreciate all the donations received thus far but the need is still there. Theresa, has a long way to go before she will be cleared to work again.

Thank you for your support
Latoya

UPDATE #1
Sorry I haven’t kept up with the updates but things are moving in the right direction just really slow. Theresa appreciates all the help she has received so far however, so much more is needed to get her out of the woods. Because she is self employed she is not receiving sick leave or disability. She has been upgraded to outpatient PT where she will be able to gradually continue to increase her strength and endurance.

Her primary care doctor as well as her team of specialists are keeping a close eye on her to make sure that she continues in the right direction. We are watching to make sure the last 2 smaller abscesses heal and that there are no further complications with the perforations in her colon.

We are so grateful for all of your support, prayers, and words of encouragement ! Every donation and share will help her get through this ❤️

Thank you you and stay blessed

ORIGINAL POST
I’m reaching out to you today on behalf of my dear friend, Theresa Mattson, who is going through an incredibly difficult and unexpected time in her life. Theresa is a generous soul who has always been the first to lend a hand to others, but right now, she is the one who needs our help.

In late January, Theresa was misdiagnosed and later, after further testing and examination, was diagnosed with severe diverticular disease, complicated by large abscesses and infection throughout her colon. Her condition worsened rapidly, and she became septic with a dangerously high white blood cell count of 19.

Theresa was hospitalized from January 29 to February 23, and after that, she left the hospital with two JP drains to collect infection from the abscesses and a PICC line for daily IV antibiotics. She is now homebound and will be until at least the end of April, as she works through extensive physical and occupational therapy to regain her strength. She is still under strict monitoring of her WBC to ensure that the infection does not return.

Unfortunately, her medical journey has left her unable to work, and her financial situation has become overwhelming. Her mortgage, utilities, and medical bills are currently two months behind and will be three months overdue as of April. Theresa is facing financial strain that adds to the emotional and physical toll of her recovery.

This is where we come in. Theresa has always been the one helping others, but now she needs our help. We’re asking for donations to support her through this incredibly tough time so that she can focus on her recovery without the added burden of mounting bills. Your contributions will go toward paying her mortgage, utilities, and medical expenses, helping to relieve some of the financial pressure she’s facing.

No amount is too small, and every donation will make a difference. If you are unable to donate, we kindly ask you to share this campaign with others who may be able to help. Your support, prayers, and kind words mean the world to Theresa as she fights through this challenging time.

Thank you so much for considering supporting this wonderful woman who has given so much to others.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Latoya
