Theresa’s Courageous Journey
Donation protected
Many of you know Theresa for her big heart and infectious smile. She is not easily missed in a crowded room because of that beautiful smile and genuinely kind soul. At the beginning of this year, our little hero was diagnosed with stage three pancreatic cancer. The warrior that had fought so hard to gain a little bit of normalcy back in life after her car accident, was facing yet another battle head on.
She accepted God’s will, put on that armor, and faced it gracefully. That beaming smile we all know so well still shines through, even on the worst days. The last year has been the hardest year of our life, but you would not know it if you spoke to her, or seen her in passing. She is the definition of selflessness, will, determination and perseverance. Her strength is not for her, but for us, her family.
Her journey has been far from easy. She had major surgery in February (Whipple) which took months to recover from, and unfortunately, that was just the beginning. She started chemotherapy shortly after, this alone, has been extremely challenging. She was about halfway through her treatments and she recently started experiencing internal bleeding. Due to further complications in her GI tract, she has developed ulcers on her esophagus, which will require yet another surgery, in hopes of stopping the bleeding. This has put a delay in her treatment plan. She has lost a significant amount of weight, and is simply too high risk and too weak to continue chemo at this point. Unfortunately, her journey is far from over, and will have a few more hurdles ahead. Her hip and foot never fully healed from her car accident and continue to cause extreme pain most days. Both will likely will require further surgery later down the road.
We ask you to continue to send prayers, good energy, and positive vibes her way. We are so grateful to God for allowing her to have the strength to continue to fight and show up for us EVERY single day, even on the days when she feels like she is done. Theresa encompasses so much love, kindness, and empathy, she deserves all good things! We appreciate your calls, texts, support, prayers, and love. It does not go unnoticed.
