The Ride Home - Finishing Fund

I'm Taylor Hastings, writer and lead actor of the short film The Ride Home. This is an intimate story that follows a young woman as she navigates the lonely and emotional experience of seeking an abortion.

Directed by Laura Adkin and co-written by myself and Laura, The Ride Home is inspired by my own very personal story of facing an unplanned pregnancy almost 5 years ago. I made the decision to terminate that pregnancy and quickly realized how little - if at all - the topic of abortion is discussed. I had no one else's experience or advice to guide me through the gamut of emotions and inner conflict I was going through. At the time, I hadn't seen the issue of abortion represented in film. Already feeling profoundly alone in such a difficult time, I then felt that much more isolated as I went through it. As the years passed and I had come to a certain level of peace about it, I wanted to share my story with the hope that it might somehow help at least one other person as they go through their own similar journey.

The film stars myself, John Cassini and Caroline Cave, and we were joined by Catherine Lough Haggquist, Veena Sood, Lisa Durupt, and Tarun Keram, among many others.

Our aim is for the film to be in completion by the end of September so that we can begin the process of film festival submissions. The funds we hope to raise are to help us afford the following:
